Deep vein thrombosis occurs when a clot (thrombosis) or clump of blood cells congregate in the deep veins in your body, most commonly in the legs. Can be a life-threatening emergency and require medication that dissolves the clot to keep it traveling to your lungs.
Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is generally diagnosed by ultrasound, x-ray, MRI, or CT scans.
Anticoagulant therapy/blood thinners, thrombolysis (removal of clot) surgical intervention, Endovascular Intervention, compression stockings, mobility/ambulation.
